FAQ

What is ClayTea?

An independent Chinese tea shop. We stock a small, deliberate catalog of loose-leaf black, green, oolong, white and pu-erh teas plus clay teaware — bought directly at origin and shipped straight from the source, with the harvest date on every label.

How do I order?

Click 'Order by Email' on any tea, or write to marketing@claytea.com with the tea name. We reply within one business day with a secure payment link. Full card checkout is coming soon.

Will I pay customs or import fees?

No. Every order ships duties-prepaid (DDP) — we handle all customs clearance and import duties, so the price you see at checkout is final. Nothing to pay at your door, ever.

How long does delivery take?

Orders are packed within 1-2 business days and travel by tracked express line from origin, typically arriving in 8-15 business days. You get door-to-door tracking the day it ships.

What is pu-erh tea?

Pu-erh (also spelled puerh, pu'er or puer) is a fermented tea from Yunnan that improves with age. Ripe (shou) pu-erh is dark, smooth and earthy — a great coffee alternative. Raw (sheng) pu-erh is brighter and more complex, and is the style collectors age for decades.

How do I brew loose-leaf tea?

The easy way: a heaping teaspoon per cup, water just off the boil for black and pu-erh (cooler for green and white), steep 2-3 minutes, and re-steep the same leaves at least once more. Every bag also carries simple brewing directions, plus gongfu parameters if you want to go deeper.

Why "ClayTea"?

Clay is the material of Yixing and Jianshui teapots — the humble, unglazed pots Chinese tea has been brewed in for centuries. It is also how we think about tea: down to earth.

Where do you ship?

Anywhere in the United States, with tracking. More countries later.
